A panoramic aerial photogarphy indeed of my kindergarten till junior high 2 of the Regina Pacis School in Jakarta. Sprawling extensively from the mouth of Jalan Palmerah Utara 1 till the Regina Pacis Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Nunery at the background. Being a male student, I studied at the Regina Pacis Kindergarten School way back in 1959 when the school borrowed the premise at the annex building of St Theresia Church and parts of the present day St.Theresia School at Jalan Haji Agus Salim, before it moved to Jalan Budi Kemulian for a short period before the final relocation in 1963 of the Regina Pacis International School (widely known as English Section as English is the medium of instruction in the classes) and Regina Pacis National School (where Bahasa Indonesia is the medium of class instruction) to the present premise of Jalan Palmerah Utara 1, witnessing the ups and downs of male students intake from year to year and having seen my senior male students had to be rejected and transferred to other schools in Jakarta The 1966 saw a further devastating development within the Regina Pacis School having to say farewell to the English Section as the new regime government of Indonesia under the then Suharto's New Order discontinued the functioning of the International section of the Regina Pacis School in Jakarta. We had to say good bye to fellow students/friends bearing in mind that we were of the same school, studying same school subjects when Regina Pacis School were still of one unit (ie, no division of English Section or Bahasa Indonesia section), or when the school, under the directive of the Dept. of Education of the Indonesian government disallowed children of Indonesian citizens to study in the International/English section, leaving the school to function twice each day at the Budi Kemuliaan premise, when mornings were devoted to the International/English classes whilst the afternoon classes were conducted for the Bahasa Indonesia classes. Vividly I could recall meeting my ex-classmates from the English section at the same time a sudden change or Our Father's prayer reciting from that of English language to the Bahasa Indonesia. I was told that it was the School Board decision (under the umbrella of FMM - Fraciscan Missionaries of Mary world wide) of giving the first priority to female students. True indeed, having observed world wide schools under the FMM, may it be in Singapore (Hai Sin Catholic High), Malaysia (Sekolah Menengah Assunta), Philippines (Stella Maris Colleges), India (Stella Maris Schools/Colleges/St Clare Convent), Melbourne, Japan (Seibo College) all bearing the motto of AD VERITATEM PER CARITATEM, all of those schools, with the exception of Singapore's Hai Sin Catholic High School as a co-ed school, have only girls/females in their classrooms. Thus the Regina Pacis School of both in Jakarta and in Bogor are the exceptions of being co-ed schools too. Though I left the Regina Pacis School at Junior High 2 (SMP 2) for Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States of America, I am still proud of once being a male student of the Regina Pacis School, Jakarta. Those were the years (2nd pioneer year or 48 years ago) when each and every academic ending years were always followed by the anxiousness of us, male students, on the outcome of the decision making for the Sisters of FMM in deciding of whether to carry on/continue accepting male students or terminating them. A very unique, challenging, intriguing, ambiguous and yet interesting school years at the Regina Pacis School. A memoir that can never be forgotten, at least for me as an individual. I have since then left Jakarta, the country and adopt a foreign natiionality/citizenship. Best Regards AD VERITATEM PER CARITATEM E.N.O. accepted
